What is an AB Claim

A Claim Through an Auto Insurance Company with the Highest Priority

An AB claim is for injury-related losses and expenses you suffer as a resulted of an automobile accident (accident). This is a first-party claim. You go through the auto insurance company with the highest priority for your claim. Subject to your eligibility, the insurance company with priority will compensation you for your injury-related losses and expenses.

The Statutory Accident Benefits Schedule (SABS) governs how accident benefits are paid. Under the SABS, accident is defined as "an incident in which the use or operation of an automobile directly causes an impairment or directly causes damage to any prescription eyewear, denture, hearing aid, prosthesis or other medical or dental device".
